Reinhard Granderath

Reinhard Granderath (born August 12, 1935 in Gelsenkirchen ; † October 6, 2012 ) was a German lawyer who was a judge at the Federal Court of Justice from April 1982 to August 31, 2000 .

Life

Reinhard Granderath grew up in Ratingen . In 1961 he received his doctorate on the subject of the legal obligation to avert success from a previous dangerous behavior in spurious omission offenses at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg . After completing his legal training in 1963, he initially worked as a court assessor. He was employed for three years at the Konstanz district court , the public prosecutor's office in Konstanz and the Konstanz district court before he was appointed regional judge at the Konstanz district court in 1967. From this position he was seconded to the Federal Constitutional Court as a research assistant for three years . At the end of 1973 he became a judge at the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court and in April 1982 a judge at the Federal Court of Justice, which he was to belong to until he retired on August 31, 2000.

During his service time at the Federal Court of Justice he was a member of the 1st Criminal Senate . He influenced the highest court rulings on crimes against life and physical integrity. For example, the criminal liability of sexual contact with an HIV- infected person, but also the case law on combating drug trafficking through criminal law. He was involved in the case law on the question of the extent to which tests by so-called lie detectors can be used in court. In addition to his judicial work, he was also active in law by writing specialist articles on criminal policy. A particular concern of his publications, as well as his judicial work, was the protection of victims under criminal law.

Granderath had been a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. since 1955 . Hohenstaufen Freiburg im Breisgau .
