Reinhard Graner (born December 21, 1926 in Breslau ; † September 10, 1989 in Düsseldorf ) was a German sculptor.

Life

Reinhard Graner completed an apprenticeship in stone carving in Zwickau and also attended the evening drawing school. He took part in the Second World War from 1943 to 1945 . From 1946 he lived in Wilkau-Haßlau . In 1951 he began studying at the University of Fine Arts in Dresden ; his teacher was Walter Arnold . In the spring of 1954 he showed a female bust and a girl's mask at the exhibition Artists from Zwickau in the City Museum in Zwickau. In Vollmer his change of which is DDR is not listed in the Federal Republic of Germany, but he was apparently already in the 1960s in Dusseldorf resident.

His Martin column was erected on November 9, 1965 at the intersection of Andreasstrasse and Hunsückenstrasse. It is a four meter high bronze column that carries a group of figures. This depicts Saint Martin of Tours sharing his cloak with a sword for a beggar who kneels next to his horse. The work was cast by the Herbert Schmäke art foundry.

In 1966 he designed the Düsseldorf city plaque donated in 1963 based on a design by Hans Maes . The front of the plaque shows a replica of the Count von Berg's equestrian seal.

In the area of ​​Mühlenstraße 12 there is a bronze plaque designed by Graner in memory of Norbert Burgmüller . It was placed there on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the musician's death. The relief was created after a portrait of Burgmüller by Sonderland .

He added a memorial stone to the war memorial in the Ehrenfriedhof, which is part of the Düsseldorf North Cemetery . The monument from 1921 was designed by Hermann Goerke and Hermann Nolte .
