Reinhard Klesse

Reinhard Klesse (born October 28, 1932 in Saalfeld in Thuringia ; died July 23, 2014 in Viereth ) was a German sculptor and painter. He made a living for his wife and seven children. Many of his monuments, fountains and sculptures can be found in the Franconian area.

Live and act

From 1947 to 1950 Reinhard Klesse completed an apprenticeship as a stonemason and sculptor with Hermann Keck . From 1950 to 1957 he worked primarily as a sculptor, while from 1953 to 1957 he was a student of the painter Heinz Bösemann . After moving to Bonn in 1957, he lived with his family in Viereth from 1959 , as he was able to purchase a small half-timbered house there for 8,000 DM. Another son grew up in Essen.

He renovated the tithe barn in Viereth and used it as a workshop, studio and apartment for his growing children. Christoph and Nicole (Hülswitt) succeeded him as artists and also use the house as the Zehntscheune gallery .

Until 1967 Reinhard Klesse worked in various stonemasonry workshops in the cathedral construction works in Bamberg. Since 1968 he has worked as a freelance sculptor and painter.

Reinhard Klesse created numerous fountains in Viereth, Schönbrunn, Burgebrach, Rodach and others. He has had numerous exhibitions, and many of his works are in private and public ownership. A permanent exhibition with some of his figurative works is located on the Regnitz on the camping island in Bamberg.

Among other things, he trained the later sculptor Rainer Kurka .
