Reinhard Mußgnug

Reinhard Alexander Mußgnug (born October 26, 1935 in Mannheim ) is a German law scholar and university lecturer in public law who is an expert on constitutional history , princely law and the protection of cultural assets.

Life

Mußgnug studied law from 1954 to 1957 in Heidelberg , Erlangen and Munich . In 1962 he took his assessor exam in Stuttgart , and in 1963 he did his doctorate in Heidelberg with Hans Schneider . From 1963 to 1969 he was a research assistant at the Universities of Hamburg and Heidelberg, and in 1969 he completed his habilitation in Heidelberg in the subjects of constitutional law, administrative law, constitutional history as well as finance and tax law. In 1971 he was appointed full professor of public law at the Free University of Berlin , and in 1975 he moved to the University of Mannheim in the same position . From 1978 until his retirement he was a full professor for public law, finance and tax law at the University of Heidelberg, where he was also director of the institute for finance and tax law. Paul Kirchhof followed him in the institute management .

In the discussion about the legal and political aspects of the planned sale of manuscripts in the Badische Landesbibliothek , Mußgnug took a clear stand against the plans of the Baden-Württemberg state government in newspaper articles and in several media appearances. In September 2019 he was one of about 100 constitutional law teachers who, with the open appeal for the right to vote, Downsized the Bundestag! turned to the German Bundestag .

In October 2006, Mußgnug took up a visiting professorship in Cluj-Napoca, Romania .

Reinhard Mußgnug has been with the historian Dorothee Mußgnug, born in 1965. Striker, married with two children. He is a cousin of the former NPD federal chairman Martin Mußgnug , who died in 1997 , but is sharply opposed to the NPD and all other right-wing and left-wing radical groups.

Honorary positions

1976–1986 Mußgnug was a part-time judge at the Baden-Württemberg Administrative Court in Mannheim, and since 1978 Associate Judge at the Baden-Württemberg Disciplinary Court.

1976–1982 Mußgnug held honorary positions in the German University Association , a. a. the office of vice-president. 1989–1993 he was first chairman of the Association for Constitutional History .
