Hans Schneider (lawyer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans Schneider (born December 11, 1912 in Berlin ; † July 9, 2010 ) was Professor of Public Law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

Life

Hans Schneider studied law at the University of Berlin and received his doctorate in 1937 from the University of Freiburg . In 1940 he completed his habilitation with Werner Weber at the Berlin Business School , where he was a lecturer at the time. From 1943 to 1945 he was a permanent adjunct professor at the University of Breslau .

From 1948 Schneider was a professor at the University of Göttingen , from 1951 at the University of Tübingen and from 1955 until his retirement in 1981 at the University of Heidelberg.

As a student, Schneider had met Carl Schmitt, who was then teaching at the University of Berlin, and had habilitated under his student Werner Weber. He was later also considered a Schmitt student, but - in contrast to z. B. to Ernst Forsthoff - thought less theoretically and more practically. His constitutional ideal "was a strong executive that could act largely unaffected by parliamentary laws".

Hans Schneider was a legal expert for the state government of Baden-Württemberg and from 1980 to 1981 chairman of the expert commission for new media (EKM) in Baden-Württemberg .
