Reinhard Rudolph Hertzberg

Reinhard Rudolph Hertzberg (* 1811 in Berlin ; † June 24, 1888 in Langenberg Castle near Weißenburg ) was a German painter and engraver .

Life

Hertzberg took lessons from 1826 to 1830 in various classes at the Prussian Academy of the Arts in Berlin and from the engraver Ludwig Buchhorn . From 1828 to 1834 he took part in the Academy exhibitions in Berlin with engravings. In 1835 Hertzberg traveled through Germany (Dresden, Prague, Nuremberg, Würzburg, Rhön Mountains), together with Edmund Rabe , August Theodor Kaselowsky and Eduard Mandel . In 1836 he was a student of Franz Krüger . Between 1836 and 1842 he stayed as a student in Paul Delaroche's studio in Paris, and after 1842 he traveled through Italy and Switzerland. From 1855 to 1865 he was a drawing teacher at the Knight Academy in Brandenburg , and from 1865 to 1878 inspector of the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin.
