Reinhold Hoppe

Reinhold Ernst Eduard Hoppe (born November 18, 1816 in Naumburg (Saale) , † June 9, 1900 in Berlin ) was a German mathematician .

Hoppe studied in Kiel , Greifswald and Berlin from 1838 and, after graduating as a teacher in 1842, taught at the grammar schools in Greifswald, Keilhau and Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt . In 1849 he came to the Kölln High School in Berlin. In 1850 he received his doctorate in Halle and after his habilitation at the University of Berlin in 1854 he was also a private lecturer in Berlin. In 1858 he went to the grammar school in Glogau , was from 1859 private lecturer in Berlin and from 1871 titular professor at the University of Berlin.

From 1872 he was editor of the journal Archive for Mathematics and Physics . He was a founding member of the German Mathematicians Association . In 1890 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
