Reinhold Mokrosch

Reinhold Mokrosch (born February 22, 1940 in Hamburg ) is a German Protestant theologian. He taught as a professor at the Institute for Protestant Theology at the University of Osnabrück .

Life

Mokrosch studied Protestant theology and religious studies from 1959 to 1965 in Tübingen, Zurich, Berlin and Hamburg. In 1965 he completed his studies with the 1st theological exam in Hamburg. From 1966 to 1972 he headed a Luther research project. In 1972 he was charged with a dissertation on Schelling and Tillich in Tübingen Dr. phil. PhD. From 1973 to 1976 Mokrosch worked as a vicar and pastor in Baden-Württemberg. In 1975 the second theological exam followed in Darmstadt. Then he was an academic senior counselor at the University of Darmstadt until 1984 . In 1984 he became professor for Ev. Theology and practical theology-religious education at the University of Osnabrück. From 1994 he was dean of the Department of Education and Cultural Studies for two years and from 2001 to 2003 he was director of the Institute for Protestant Theology.

In 1997 he completed his habilitation with the history of theol. and philos. Understanding of conscience and the conscience behavior of young people today to the Dr. theol. habil. in Vienna and was then a member of the teaching staff Ev. Theology in Vienna. He retired in 2005 and has taught since then.

Mokrosch held longer visiting professorships in 1997 at the Makumira College in Tanzania (Christian Education / Western Theology) and in 2002 at the University of Tartu (religious education); In addition, he was at Christian colleges in Bangalore, Kolkata, Dehradun, Delhi, Faridabad, Mangalore and Conoor in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014.

Mokrosch has been married since 1967 and has two children.

Research priorities

Mokrosch's main research areas are didactics of church history, value development and value education, conscience development, moral and religious development, religious education and religious didactics, ecumenical learning, interreligious learning and Islamic religious education. From 1992 to 2008 he was a member of the research center “Empirical Value Research”. From 1998 to 2002 he worked as chairman of the commission of the Evangelical Church in Germany for the reform of religious education.
