Reinhold Rabich

Reinhold Rabich (born January 12, 1902 in Gotha ; † November 7, 1974 in Dresden ) was a German civil engineer.

biography

Rabich went to secondary school in Gotha, where he was a draftsman, designer and structural engineer at the Gothaer Waggonfabrik, before he studied civil engineering at the TU Dresden after graduating in 1928 with his diploma in 1932. He then worked there as an assistant. From 1934 to 1945 he was an engineer at Dyckerhoff & Widmann in Berlin. In addition to planning reinforced concrete structures, he also researched their statics in collaboration with Franz Dischinger and Ulrich Finsterwalder . In particular, he found practical formulations for the statics of shells, especially circular cylindrical shells. From 1945 to 1949 he was self-employed as a test engineer in Gotha and then he was a structural engineer and design engineer in the 1st design office for industrial buildings in Dresden, where he also became a draftsman and department head. In 1952 he received his doctorate from the TU Dresden (The membrane theory of the single-shell hyperbolic rotation shell). In 1956 he became a lecturer for statics and elasticity theory and in 1958 professor for reinforced concrete at the Hochschule für Bauwesen in Cottbus and completed his habilitation in 1961. From 1962 to 1967 he was professor for theory and construction of planar structures at the TU Dresden.
