The Rektor-Bach-Hauptschule is a secondary school in Hermeskeil in Rhineland-Palatinate .

history

The secondary school was planned in 1969 due to the new Rhineland-Palatinate school law of 1968 and built in the following years. The first groundbreaking ceremony was held by the then Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate and later German Chancellor Helmut Kohl in 1970, and the topping-out ceremony was held in 1972.

On August 8, 1973, the school began operating as a nine-class Hermeskeil secondary school with 740 students in 22 classes. Right from the start, the school offered a voluntary tenth grade. The first headmaster was Rector Marx. In the following year, a separate gym was put into operation. Even in 1974, the school management was taken over by Rector Scherf as the former rector of the School Board in Trier was appointed. In 1980 a school trial with a musical and cultural focus began at the secondary school. In 1995 the school was renamed Rektor-Bach-Hauptschule . In August 2001 the school became an official all-day school . Since the school year 2010/2011, the Rektor-Bach-Hauptschule and the Erich Kästner Realschule have formed the Hermeskeil Integrated Comprehensive School .
