Relentless Retribution (English: merciless retaliation) is the sixth studio album by the US thrash metal band Death Angel . It was released on September 3, 2010 on Nuclear Blast . The album was also released as a digipak with a DVD containing a studio report ( making-of ). It entered the German album charts at number 45, the highest ranking for the band to date.
Music genre
Compared to its predecessor, described as rockier, the album tends again more towards classic elements of Thrash Metal. Two-part solos, breaks and a somewhat rougher vocals compared to the early Death Angel can be heard. A ballad is included with Volcanic . A longer acoustic part was also installed in Claws in the Deep .
reception
The album was received positively and was sometimes referred to as the best record since Act III . In Rock Hard , "Buffo" Schnädelbach awarded 9 out of 10 points. He spoke of a “fantastic album” that was better than anything the “Big Four” of Thrash released in the last decade. With an average score of 7.8 points, the album reached third place in the magazine's monthly “Richter scale”. On musikreviews.de, Lutz Koroleski called the album “significantly fresher and more focused than its two predecessors”, and the accelerator was “consistently stepped on”. Compared to the new albums by Overkill , Heathen and Exodus , Death Angel would have "just been left behind".
