Remi Kabaka

Aderemi "Remi" Kabaka (also Remy Kabocka ) is a Nigerian percussionist and drummer who contributed to British rock music .

Kabaka had been based in Great Britain since the 1960s, where he initially worked as a studio musician for Gordon Jackson or Juicy Lucy . In 1970 he was a founding member of Ginger Bakers Air Force . Then he worked with Steve Winwood in the Third World trio . He then led the Afrofunk band Shakatu . Between 1977 and 1980 he was a member of Osibisa .

Kabaka composed the music for the Brazilian-Ghanaian feature film A Deusa negra by Ola Balogun . He can also be heard on albums by Paul McCartney ( Band on the Run ), Twins Seven Seven , Jim Capaldi ( Short Cut Draw Blood ) and Paul Simon ( The Rhythm of the Saints ). He was also in the studio with John Martyn and Hugh Masekela . He later moved to Santa Monica . In 2003 he accompanied the Rolling Stones on their tour of the American west coast. In 2013 he attended Nelson Mandela's birthday celebrations in Los Angeles .
