The Remo Four was a well-known English beat band from the 1960s.

The group began in Liverpool in 1958 as the backing band of Billy J. Kramer and Chris Farlowe . Then the band Brian Epstein , the manager of the Beatles noticed . This took Remo Four under contract from 1965.

The music style was a personal variation of Merseybeat with many blues and jazz influences and was way ahead of its time.

Remo Four's appearances soon became one of the highlights of the music clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg and the Jaguar Club in Herford. They appeared regularly on the TV music show Beat Club . Her trademark was her idiosyncratic version of Peter Gunn (title song of a crime series of the same name ). Otherwise the group played mostly foreign material from Chuck Berry or Stevie Wonder .

1967 in Joe Menke's recording studio Maschen Smile! , the Remo Four's only long-playing record .

After the death of Brian Epstein, the group broke up in late 1967. Shortly thereafter, Tony Ashton and Roy Dyke founded the group Ashton, Gardner & Dyke .
