Susanne Beyer
Susanne Beyer (née Helm ; born June 24, 1961 in Suhl ) is a former athlete from the German Democratic Republic (GDR). In the 1980s she was one of the world's top high jumpers .
Life
In 1987 she was the first woman in the GDR to jump over the magical height of 2.00 meters in the traditional high jump with music in Arnstadt , thus improving Andrea Bienias' five-year-old record by one centimeter. This made her the third high jumper in the world to jump the 2-meter mark in the hall.
Her greatest success outdoors is third place at the 1987 World Championships in Rome with a personal best of 1.99 m. She also won silver (2.02 m) at the World Indoor Championships in 1987 and silver (1.97 m) at the European Indoor Championships in 1985 and bronze (1.91 m) in 1987 .

In 1983, 1985 and 1987 she was GDR champion, in the hall she won in 1984 and 1987. Susanne Beyer started for SC Dynamo Berlin (trainer: Klaus Beer ). During her active time, the 1.76 m tall athlete weighed 58 kg. In the documents on state doping in the GDR that became public after the reunification , the name of Beyer was also found among the doped athletes.
