Susanne Beyer (journalist)

Susanne Beyer (born June 20, 1969 in Balige , Indonesia ) is a German journalist and author .

Life

Beyer spent her school days in Wuppertal and Bielefeld and then studied German and history at the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg and the University of Vienna . After graduating , she attended the German School of Journalism in Munich and then worked for Bayerischer Rundfunk and as a freelance writer for the Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin .

In October 1996 she became editor of the cultural department of the news magazine Der Spiegel , of which she became deputy head in January 2014. From February 2015 to December 2018 she was deputy editor-in-chief and since January 2019 she has been the author of the capital city office.

She is one of the supporters of the Charter of Fundamental Digital Rights of the European Union , which was published at the end of November 2016.
