René Gisler

René Gisler (born April 30, 1967 in Schattdorf , Canton Uri , Switzerland ) is a Swiss artist and author .

biography

He grew up in Schattdorf, Switzerland. In 1992 he completed his studies in the field of fine art at the Lucerne School of Design. He then assisted for two years at the SfG Luzern under Anton Egloff in the area of ​​three-dimensional design. He has been an active member of the Visarte Central Switzerland since 1996 . Before going abroad to Los Angeles and Berlin, he completed further training in 1999 as a multimedia producer at the SAE Institute in Zurich . He has been a lecturer at the Lucerne University of Art and Design since 2000 . Today René Gisler lives and works as an artist and designer in Lucerne.

As a “phrasadeur” he developed neologisms , which he published in 2001 as the book “Der Enzyklop. A dictionary ”published in Edition diá and has continued on his blog ever since. In 2019 he printed the more than 16,000 entries on 1,062 pages as “Thesaurus Rex”.
