René Ricol

René Ricol (born December 26, 1950 in Lyon ) is a French auditor . From 2002 to 2004 he was President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

Career

In 1987 Ricol established and chaired an independent financial expertise committee. He is also President of France Investissement , a government agency created in December 2006.

In September 2008, he presented a report on the global financial crisis to French President Nicolas Sarkozy . In October 2008, Sarkozy appointed him to be a credit mediator ( Médiateur du crédit en France ). In this function, Gérard Rameix succeeded him on September 28, 2009. Since then, Ricol has been Commissioner General for Investments under the leadership of the Prime Minister and is charged with overseeing the state borrowing of 35 billion euros.

Honors

René Ricol is Honorary President of the Ordre des experts-comptables and Honorary President of IFAC. On July 4, 2006 he was appointed Commander of the Legion of Honor and since July 14, 2011 he has been Grand Commander of the Legion of Honor.
