Renata Kasalová (born March 5, 1969 in Bánovce nad Bebravou ) is a Slovak table tennis player . She is five times European youth champion and won four medals at European adult championships. She also took part in the 1988 Olympic Games .
Career
Renata Kasalová began playing table tennis at the Spartak ZŤS Topoľčany club, where she was trained by Ľuboš Goga. Once in Bratislava a second power center was established for the Czechoslovak table tennis, she moved in 1986 to Lokomotíva Bratislava, where Vladimír Mihočko to 1990 was their coach. Until 1991 she was active for the club, which has since been renamed ŠKST Butterfly Bratislava.
In 1985 and 1988 she was Czechoslovak individual champion. Together with Marie Hrachová she won the Czechoslovak championship in doubles in 1987 and 1988 and in 1989 with Tomáš Jančí the title in mixed. Kasalová became Slovak champion in singles four times (1985-1987, 1989), together with Renata Žaťková she won the doubles title in 1986 and 1989. In mixed she became Slovak champion in 1985 (with Vladimír Vinkler) as well as in 1986 and 1987 (with Milan Grman ).
She achieved her first international successes at the European Youth Championships, where she won a total of nine medals:
- 1983: Silver in singles, gold in doubles with Renata Lindnerová
- 1984: Silver mixed with Milan Grman
- 1985: Gold in doubles with Daniela Davídková , silver in mixed with Milan Grman, gold with the team
- 1986: Silver in doubles with Daniela Davídková, gold in mixed with Milan Grman, gold with the team
From 1983 to 1991 she took part in five world championships for adults. She never came close to a medal. In 1993 she reached the semi-finals at the European Championships in both singles and doubles with Marie Hrachová , with the team she became vice European champion. This second place in the team competition was defended at the EM 1990 .
In 1988 she qualified for participation in the Olympic Games . Here she came into the main round after victories over Elizabeth Popper (Venezuela), Jaklein Al-Duqom (Jordan), Lin Li-Ju (Taiwan) and Hui So Hung (Hong Kong) as well as a defeat against South Korean Yang Yeong-Ja, where she was eliminated by Hong Cha-Ok (South Korea). In the double competition she competed with Marie Hrachová and reached the quarterfinals after five wins and one defeat in the preliminary round. Here they were subject to the Yugoslav couple Gordana Perkučin / Jasna Fazlić . In the game for fifth place they prevailed against Fliura Bulatowa / Elena Kovtun .
With the women's team, she won the International English Championship in 1986 and the International Championship of the ČSFR in 1991 .
In 1988 she was ranked 26th in the ITTF world rankings .
In 1993 Renata Kasalová joined SV Schwechat in Austria . From 1994 to 1995 she played for Arttep Pap Topoľčany in the super league . In the 1996/97 season she played - at that time under her married name Renata Manaková - in the German Bundesliga at the TTC Kassel club .
