Rennison Flint "Dinny" Manners (born February 5, 1904 in Ottawa , Ontario ; † December 26, 1944 ) was a Canadian ice hockey player and coach who played 37 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia during his active career between 1922 and 1934 Quakers competed in the National Hockey League on the position of the center .
Career
Manners played between 1922 and 1924, first for the Pittsburgh Yellow Jackets in the United States Amateur Hockey Association , then for a year with league rivals Fort Pitt Panthers. He returned to his native Ottawa in 1926 and played in the City League for the Ottawa Montagnards for the next three years. He topped the scorer list twice. In the 1929/30 season Manners moved again to Pittsburgh to play in the National Hockey League for the Pittsburgh Pirates . In 33 league appearances, he collected five scorer points , including three goals. When the team moved to Philadelphia before the 1930/31 season and participated in league operations as the Philadelphia Quakers , the center played three more games. He spent most of the season but with the Niagara Falls Cataracts in the Ontario Professional Hockey League .
Then Manners moved back to the amateur camp and in 1933 once again joined the Ottawa Montagnards. In 1935 he was instrumental in the re-establishment of the Pittsburgh Yellow Jackets, which he supervised as a coach in the Eastern Hockey League until its dissolution in 1937 . Manners died on December 26, 1944 at the age of 40 when he collapsed while waiting for a tram .
