Reshad Jones Monquez (* 25. February 1988 in Atlanta , Georgia ) is an American American Footballer in the National Football League (NFL). He played until 2020 for the Miami Dolphins as a safety . He is currently a free agent .

college

Jones attended the University of Georgia and successfully played college football for their team, the Bulldogs, between 2008 and 2010 . In 39 games he put 206 tackles , he also got 11 interceptions .

NFL

In the 2010 NFL Draft , Jones was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the 5th round as 163rd overall. In his rookie season, he was used in 13 games, twice as a starter , with 21 tackles and one interception. In the following seasons he increased steadily and became one of the pillars of the Dolphins' defense. In 2014, he was suspended for four games for violating the league's doping guidelines.

In 2015 he had his best season so far. He was not only able to set 135 tackles and defend 10 passes, but he also got five interceptions and two touchdowns , for which he was appointed to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career . In 2016, the season came to an end after just six games because of a shoulder injury.

In 2017, the Dolphins gave him a new five-year contract worth $ 55 million , 35 of which were guaranteed.

He was released from the Miami Dolphins on March 18, 2020.
