The resolution 733 of the UN Security Council of 23 January 1992 deals with the situation in Somalia after the fall of the government of Siad Barre . The resolution imposes an arms embargo on Somalia in the face of civil war and famine . The warring parties are urged not to hinder humanitarian aid and to work towards a ceasefire and peace. All states are called upon to support these goals and to provide humanitarian aid. The UN Secretary General is to report to the Security Council on the situation in Somalia.

The resolution was passed unanimously by the United Nations Security Council at its 3039th session.
