Retagliado bianco

Retagliado Bianco is an autochthonous , white wine variety that is cultivated in Sardinia . It is usually blended with Vermentino or other local varieties . At the beginning of the 1990s, 196 hectares of vineyards were raised.

In Sardinia there is also a red grape variety, Retagliadu Nieddu . However, this is only a synonym for the Grenache variety .

Retagliado bianco is also available under the names Arba luxi, Arretallace, Arretallau, Arrosto portedium, Bianca Lucida, Coa de Brebei, Erba luxi, Erbaluxi, Mara bianca, Rechiliau, Redagladu, Retagladu, Retagliada, Retagliadu bazziancu, Retagliaduellau francese , Retigliau, Ritelau, Rittadatu and Rotogliadu known.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is greenish with a very slightly reddish tinge. The green, slightly brown-colored young leaves are hairy like a cobweb.
  • The medium-sized leaves (see also the article leaf shape ) are usually five-lobed and only moderately thick. The stem bay is U-shaped open. The leaf margin is serrated to a point. The teeth are set wide in comparison to the grape varieties. The leaf surface (also called blade) is smooth.
  • The conical grape is medium-sized and only moderately dense. The round or slightly oval berries are medium-sized and golden yellow in color. The berry is thin-skinned, juicy and has a neutral taste; the juice is colorless.

Retagliado bianco is quite resistant to powdery mildew . The variety is susceptible to downy mildew . The yields are regular and high.

Retagliado bianco ripens about 40 days after the Gutedel and is therefore one of the very late ripening varieties.
