Retaliation ( English "retaliation") is a German death metal band from Lower Franconia .
history
The band was founded in December 2005 by Julian Welsch and Sven Lutz, who soon left the band under the name Invalid Injection. After the band had been completed by the entry of Stefan Lammer, Heiko Heckner, Johannes Schwarzkopf and Jürgen Köhler, the first live appearances followed in 2007. In February 2008, the band released their first EP Enticing which through the underground - Label was released Rising Nemesis Records. On this recording Julian Welsch played all the instruments himself, while Johannes Schwarzkopf and Stefan Lammer contributed the vocals. The album was produced by Nikita Kamprad ( Fuck Your Shadow From Behind , Der Weg einer Freiheit ), who also recorded a guitar solo for the song Enticing World of Eternal Lies . The mixing and mastering was done by Andreas Hofmann from the Würzburg band Apokrypha .
After performing at the Eisenwahn Festival in July 2008, Stefan Lammer and Jürgen Köhler left the band and were replaced by Dennis Schneider, Christian Schlosser and Marc Schuhmann in the same year. In 2010 Retaliation was signed by the US record label Unique Leader Records , which released their debut album Seven in the same year . This was produced and mixed by Dennis Schneider himself, Christoph Brandes took over the mastering in the Iguana Studios. Julian Welsch left the band in summer 2011 and was replaced by Florian Wehner.
The band played concerts with the bands Decapitated , Soul Demise , Ex Deo , Purgatory , Defloration and Wolfchant .
style
The music on Enticing was compared to the early works of At the Gates , highlighting the presence of "depth, melody and emotion". In addition to modern and technically demanding Death Metal, Seven also includes influences from Melodic Death Metal , as well as quieter interludes here and there .
