The Sky Is Crying is a blues song by Elmore James that has become a blues standard over the years. The first recording reached number fifteenth on the Billboard R&B charts in 1960. Although Elmore James is listed as the only composer and lyricist on the record, other names have been given over time, which is probably due to the fact that there are countless cover versions gives. In 1991 the song was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in the "Classics of Blues Recordings" category.

In the song, a lover complains that his "baby" no longer loves him. He saw her walking down the street this morning and was fine until his heart stopped and he remembered that love is no longer returned. "And now heaven is crying, the tears are raining down my door."
