description

The mill building

The Reuschenberger mill dates from the middle of the 19th century. The mill building was built in 1847 as a so-called art mill with state-of-the-art technology with turbine drive . A mill that had been built in 1477 previously stood at this location. From 1881 to 1932 it was used as a paper mill . The main building was made of brick with a late Classicist structure and arched windows . The ceilings inside are supported by cast iron pillars. The inside of the industrial building is connected to a representative residential building under the same roof.

Over the years there were extensions to an industrial complex with outbuildings. Today there are office facilities for various companies and smaller workshops. Parts of the facility are also used for residential purposes.

The trench and canal system with weirs on the site is still in operation today. This operates a hydroelectric power plant that generates 1.6 million kWh of electricity annually.
