The hamlet of Reute is located in the Aach-Linz district to the south of this, bounded by the 8234 district road from Aach-Linz to Sohl , Herdwangen-Schönach community in the northeast and the Linz Aach in the southwest.

history

Reute was first mentioned in 1217 as Ruoti (13th century copy). Reute was owned by the Überlingen Hospital (Sohl Office). Under Salemian rule, the village of Reute existed as a large estate including a chapel owned by the monastery. After secularization, it became the property of Salem Castle . Reute was later a hamlet belonging to the municipality of Großschönach in the Baden Seekreis , Pfullendorf office. With effect from April 1, 1924, the rural communities of Aach and Linz and the districts of Reute (community Großschönach) and Sahlenbach (community Herdwangen ) were combined to form a simple community called Aach-Linz in the Pfullendorf district.

religion

Reute is a Catholic branch to the parish of Aach-Linz, until 1820 to the parish of Pfullendorf.

Residents

Culture and sights

Buildings

  • The listed chapel of St. Rochus and Sebastian at the through-town of Reute is a plastered, small solid building built in 1615 with an older three-winged altar. The chapel is used to worship the Mother of Sorrows and the two saints Sebastian and Rochus. It was already in the village when Reute was still a large estate in the possession of the Salem Monastery and after the secularization it passed into the possession of the Salem Castle. In 1926 Caspar Utz acquired the manor including the chapel, on which roof tiles were then burned. Since then, the chapel has been privately owned by the Utz family, who consider it their duty to maintain and look after it. The chapel has been renovated several times over the past 100 years. Finally, the white inner walls of the chapel, the altar plinth and the reveals of the arched windows urgently needed to be renewed: In 2014, the plinth and walls as well as the altar foot were freshly plastered in compliance with the requirements of monument law. The painting of the altar was used for the new painting using spatula technique in the colors white and red. The three window reveals were framed and gilded with handcrafted stucco molding and embellished with cast angel heads in the baroque style.

Economy and Infrastructure

traffic

There is a traffic-related curiosity in Reute: The hamlet was never officially opened under traffic law or has never been publicly dedicated, so the road leading through the town is privately owned. In fact, every neighboring property owner holds a share in the passage.
