Revermont

Revermont denotes a nature reserve in eastern France and a former principality of the same name .

The nature park

The Revermont is a nature reserve in the south of the Jura and extends from Lons-le-Saunier in the north to the Ain in the south. The area is sparsely populated and the main economic activity is viticulture . Places in the Revermont are: Treffort-Cuisiat , Jasseron , Ceyzériat , Gigny and Saint-Martin-du-Mont .

the Principality

The extent of the former principality largely corresponds to the nature reserve. It had been sovereign and owned by the Coligny family since the 11th century .
