Reyner Banham
Peter Reyner Banham (born March 2, 1922 , Norwich ( Norfolk ), England , † March 19, 1988 ) was an English architecture critic . His best-known publications include Theory and Design in the First Machine Age (1960) and Los Angeles: The Architecture of Four Ecologies (1971).
Life
Banham first studied with Anthony Blunt at the Courtauld Institute of Art , then with Sigfried Giedion and Nikolaus Pevsner .
As a professor, Banham taught at the University of London , the State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo and, in the 1980s, at the University of California, Santa Cruz .
