Rhagadiolus edulis is a species of the sunflower family (Asteraceae).

features

Rhagadiolus edulis is an annual stem therophyte that reaches heights of 20 to 50 (rarely 10 to 70) centimeters. The basal leaves are lyre-shaped and pinnate. The terminal leaflet is large, the lateral leaflets are small and distant. The petiole is well developed and often elongated. The usually 5 to 6 inner bracts are bare on the back. The fruits are 10 to 15 millimeters long and straight or slightly curved.

The flowering period extends from March to June.

Occurrence

Rhagadiolus edulis is a Mediterranean to sub-Mediterranean floral element. It occurs in Morocco, Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia, the Balkan Peninsula, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Turkey, Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Israel. On Crete, the species grows on cultivated and fallow land, on ruderal sites and in open Phrygana at altitudes from 0 to 1300 meters.
