Ric Sanders (* 8. December 1952 in Birmingham , Warwickshire ) is a folk - and fusion - Fiedler .

Life

Sanders taught himself to fiddle. In 1973 he became a member of Stomu Yamash'ta and the Red Buddha Theater and in 1978 he starred on Alive and Well by Soft Machine . In 1980 he founded Second Vision with John Etheridge , Dave Bristow and Mickey Baker . The band released their only album First Steps in the same year. After the band split up, Sanders and Ethridge initially continued to play together. In 1981 Sanders opened his own recording studio , where he mainly recorded folk albums, including those by June Tabor and Martin Simpson . In 1984 Sanders released his solo debut Whenever .

In addition, Sanders joined the Albion Band for a few years from 1977 . He was involved in the recordings for the album Rise Up Like the Sun (1978) as well as in the following engagement of the Albion Band at the Royal National Theater . On the occasion he met various ex-members of Fairport Convention . As a result, he received an offer from Dave Pegg in 1985 at a reunion of the Fairport Convention to join the band. Sanders agreed. In addition to his Fairport Convention work, he recorded a second solo album, Neither Time Nor Distance , in 1991 and teamed up with Vikki Clayton and Fred Thelonious Baker in 1995 . The trio released the live album Carried Away (Speaking Volumes) in the same year .
