Ricardo Osorio Mendoza (born March 30, 1980 in Huajuapan de León , Mexico ) is a retired Mexican football player .
Osorio can be used both as a defender and as a defensive midfielder . He is not a rustic clearer, but solves his tasks with the help of his good technique and speed.
Career
society
Osorio began his professional career in 2002 with Cruz Azul . He played for this club until 2006. On July 1, 2006, he moved to the Bundesliga for VfB Stuttgart for a transfer fee of 3.5 million euros . On February 16, 2007, in the game at Eintracht Frankfurt (4-0), he scored his first goal for VfB Stuttgart in his 17th Bundesliga appearance. In 2007 he won the German championship with VfB . He was also in the final of the DFB Cup with VfB and thus even had the chance to crown the season with a double . However, VfB lost the final 2: 3 against 1. FC Nürnberg .
After his contract in Stuttgart expired, Osorio moved back to his Mexican home to CF Monterrey in July 2010 . Osorio also ended his career with this club in the summer of 2016.
National team
He made his debut in the Mexican national team on July 13, 2003 in a game for the CONCACAF Gold Cup against Brazil , which Mexico won 1-0. In this tournament, Osorio took part in all five games of the Mexicans who won the tournament without conceding a single goal. In the final, Mexico faced Brazil again and again prevailed 1-0 (this time in extra time).
Osorio also took part in the 2004 Copa America , where he scored his first and so far only international goal on July 7, 2004 in a game against Uruguay (2-2). He also played in the Confederations Cup in 2005 and played all of Mexico's games at the 2006 World Cup . After the World Cup, he played all games in the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup , where Mexico lost 2-1 in the final against hosts USA, and played in the qualifying games for the 2010 World Cup .
