Richard A. Kramer

Richard A. Kramer (* 1938 ) is an American musicologist who specializes in Beethoven .

Life

Kramer received his PhD from Princeton University in 1974 and then taught at Stony Brook University . Since 1998 he has been a professor at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York .

For his publication Distant Cycles: Schubert and the Conceiving of Song (1994) he received the renowned Kinkeldey Award of the American Musicological Society and the ASCAP-Deems Taylor Award. Kramer has been a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences since 2001 .
