Richard Anders (sculptor)
Richard Leopold Oskar Anders (born February 10, 1853 in Quedlinburg , † May 5, 1917 in Berlin-Schmargendorf ) was a German sculptor and university professor.
Life
Anders was born in the building with today's address Mühlenstraße 20 and was baptized in the Quedlinburg Sankt Servati Church . He first learned wood carving. He then studied from 1871 at the Berlin Art Academy , where he became a member of the Corps Borussia in 1872 . At the art academy he was one of Emil Hundrieser's students .
In 1886 Richard Anders founded his own atelier for bronze and copper foundries. In 1894 he was accepted as a full member of the Association of Berlin Artists . In 1904 he was appointed professor at the Berlin Art Academy.
In 1888 he married Elise Anna Hermine Wagner in Berlin. The marriage resulted in two sons and a daughter. Different was buried in Quedlinburg.

- 1891: Nachtigal monument in Stendal
- 1895: Mars la Tour Victory Monument in Quedlinburg . The equestrian statue was erected in honor of the 7th cuirassier regiment (Seydlitz cuirassiers) who were garrisoned with two squadrons in Quedlinburg.
- 1897: Kaiser Wilhelm I equestrian monument in Cologne, melted down in 1943
- 1904: GutsMuths monument in Quedlinburg
- 1906: Dipped monument in Quedlinburg
- 1906: Gustav Brecht monument in Quedlinburg
- 1906: Germania war memorial 1870/71 in Derenburg
- 1909: Gottlieb von Haeseler statue on the facade of the main train station in Metz
Awards
- Richard Anders was awarded the Order of the Prussian Crown for the Mars la Tour victory monument .
