Richard Leopold Oskar Anders (born February 10, 1853 in Quedlinburg , † May 5, 1917 in Berlin-Schmargendorf ) was a German sculptor and university professor.

Life

Anders was born in the building with today's address Mühlenstraße 20 and was baptized in the Quedlinburg Sankt Servati Church . He first learned wood carving. He then studied from 1871 at the Berlin Art Academy , where he became a member of the Corps Borussia in 1872 . At the art academy he was one of Emil Hundrieser's students .

In 1886 Richard Anders founded his own atelier for bronze and copper foundries. In 1894 he was accepted as a full member of the Association of Berlin Artists . In 1904 he was appointed professor at the Berlin Art Academy.

In 1888 he married Elise Anna Hermine Wagner in Berlin. The marriage resulted in two sons and a daughter. Different was buried in Quedlinburg.
