Richard Bayer (born July 29, 1883 in Elberfeld , † June 9, 1972 Hochdahl ) was a German industrialist.

Life

Richard Bayer was a grandson of the company's founder Friedrich Bayer and the son of Friedrich Bayer with his wife Anna. He completed his chemistry studies at the University of Bonn and at the Technical University of Dresden . In 1903 he became a member of the Corps Saxonia Bonn . During his studies he was one of the active members and sponsors of the Academic Sports Association and acted there as an ice hockey referee. After graduating as Dr.-Ing. in December 1911 1912 stepped in Dresden Bayer as an employee of the Scientific Laboratory in Elberfeld in the Bayer works one. From 1914 to 1916 he took part in the First World War as a soldier, after which he returned to Bayer. After the death of his father in 1920 he was elected to the board of directors. In 1925 he moved to Leverkusen and became a member of the supervisory board of the new IG Farbenindustrie in the course of the merger . In 1951 he was one of the founders of the successor company Farbenfabriken Bayer AG, where he was also a member of the supervisory board from 1951 to 1960, most recently as deputy chairman. After his death, Bayer was buried in the Evangelical Lutheran cemetery in Elberfeld.
