Rudolf Baehr

Rudolf Baehr (born January 6, 1922 in Bamberg ; † November 10, 2010 in Salzburg ) was a German Romance philologist whose place of work was Salzburg.

life and work

Baehr received his doctorate in 1952 under Gerhard Rohlfs in Munich with studies on rhetoric in the Rime Guittones of Arezzo and became an assistant. He completed his habilitation there in 1954 with the work Spanish verse theory on a historical basis. I. Middle Ages and from then on he worked as a private lecturer. In 1960 he became an adjunct professor. Baehr was a full professor of Romance philology from 1965 to 1990 (also rector from 1969 to 1971) at the University of Salzburg . Baehr was an honorary doctor of the University of Reims and holder of several Austrian orders of merit.
