Alfred Kyrer
Alfred Kyrer (born June 22, 1935 in Vienna ; † January 3, 2019 ) was an Austrian economist . From 1991 to 1993 he was rector of the University of Salzburg .
Life
After primary school in Enzersdorf im Thale, Alfred Kyrer attended the Hernalser Gymnasium Geblergasse . He then completed a commercial apprenticeship in the chemical industry. In 1954 he began studying commercial science at the University of World Trade , later the Vienna University of Economics and Business, which he graduated in 1958 as a business graduate. In 1962 he received his doctorate in commercial science. In 1964 he received the Cardinal Innitzer Prize . In 1965 he qualified as a professor for the entire field of economics .
In 1968 he was given a teaching position at the University of Salzburg , where he was appointed to the Chair of Economics II in 1970. In the academic years 1989/90 and 1990/91 he acted as dean of the law faculty of the University of Salzburg, in the academic years 1991/92 and 1992/93 he succeeded Theodor Wolfram Köhler as rector of the university. In 2003 he retired . In 1996 he co-founded the Forum Voltaire with Dieter Proske, and in 2002 he became scientific director of the PEF Private University for Management in Vienna.
