Richard "Richi" Bucher (born September 27, 1955 in Lucerne ; † September 7, 2012 in Davos ) was a Swiss ice hockey goalkeeper .

Career

Bucher spent his junior years at SC Luzern , for which he played in the second-rate National League B from 1976 to 1978 . For the 1978/79 season the change was made to also in the National League B playing HC Davos . The Bündnern rose Richi straight into the National League A in. In 1984 and 1985 he won the Swiss championship with the Davos team. In the NLA playoffs 1987 only fourth place was achieved, but Bucher convinced as the goalkeeper of the Bündner this season and was awarded the Jacques Plante Trophy as goalkeeper of the year. Bucher stayed with HC Davos until 1989. He let his career end with his youth club SC Luzern.

International

For Switzerland , Bucher took part in the 1985 B World Cup , the A World Cup in 1987 and the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary . A highlight of his international career was the game against Finland at the 1988 Winter Olympics, when Bucher held over 50 shots by the Finns; Switzerland finally won 2-1. He made a total of 38 international matches for Switzerland.
