Richard Camenisch

Richard Camenisch (born December 26, 1837 in Portein , † April 1, 1904 in Chur ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician .

Life

After visiting the district school in Chur Richard Camenisch studied at the Universities of Zurich , Heidelberg and Munich jurisprudence . In Zurich he joined the Corps Tigurinia in 1857 and in Munich in 1858 the Corps Franconia .

After completing his studies, he first settled in Portein as a lawyer and from there went to Thusis . At the end of the 1860s he was settled in Chur. From 1887 to 1891 and from 1895 to 1905 he was Grisons Grand Councilor . From 1892 to 1893 he was a member of the Small Council , and in 1893 as President of the Government . From 1895 to 1904 he was Chur Mayor . Then he worked as a lawyer again.

Camenisch was an advocate of the federal revision from 1872 to 1874. He campaigned politically in particular for employees and civil servants. He is considered to be one of the main personalities of Graubünden freedom .
