Richard Comeau

Richard Comeau (* 1960 in Chicoutimi , Québec , Canada ) is a Canadian film editor .

Life

Comeau was born in Chicoutimi in 1960 as the son of an engineer. When he was four years old, the family moved to Montreal , where Comeau grew up.

He studied film studies at Concordia University in Montreal until 1985 . One of his teachers hired Comeau to edit his films. He has been working as a freelance film editor since the 1990s. At the beginning of his career he mainly worked for the director Manon Briand . With the editing of the episode film Cosmos , Comeau recommended himself for larger projects. He worked with Denis Villeneuve on Maelström (2000) and Polytechnique (2009).

For Ce qu'il faut pour vivre (2008) and Polytechnique (2009) he received the Genie Award for the best cut for two years in a row .

He is a member of the Canadian Cinema Editors (CCE).
