Richard Dooling
Richard Dooling (born 1954 in Omaha , Nebraska ) is an American writer, screenwriter and lawyer.
life and work
Richard Dooling was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1954. In 1976 he graduated from Saint Louis University with a degree in English literature and from 1979 worked as an anesthesia technician in hospitals. In the 1980s, he toured Africa and Europe for a year. In 1984 he began to study law at the University of Nebraska , graduating in 1987 and becoming a lawyer in St. Louis .
His first novel Critical Care (1992) was made into a film in 1997 by the director Sidney Lumet ; German title of the film: Die und Erben . His next novel was White Man's Grave (1994), which was nominated for a National Book Award . He was followed by Brain Storm (1998) and Bet Your Life (2002). In collaboration with Stephen King , he wrote the screenplay The Journals of Eleanor Druse (2004) for the TV series Kingdom Hospital under the pseudonym Eleanor Druse .
