Albert Paschoud

Albert Paschoud (born May 24, 1877 in Lutry , † February 6, 1949 in La Conversion in the municipality of Lutry, reformed , resident in Forel (Lavaux) and Lutry) was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

biography

Albert Paschoud was born on May 24, 1877 in Lutry as the son of the notary and liberal politician David Paschoud and Louise Julie, born Deprez. After attending the industrial school in Lausanne, Paschoud completed an apprenticeship as a winegrower and tree nursery gardener .

In addition, Albert Paschoud, who was active in the Vaudois regional church, served as president of the parish council and member of the synodal commission between 1910 and 1942 . He was also a member of the board of directors at Crédit Foncier Vaudois from 1935 to 1947 .

In 1900 he married Louise, the daughter of the farmer Louis Pavillard. Albert Paschoud died on February 6, 1949 at the age of 72 in La Conversion. He was a half-brother of the free-thinking politician and university professor Maurice Paschoud .

Political career

As a member of the Liberals, Albert Paschoud belonged to the legislature in the Lutry municipal council from 1900 onwards. At the cantonal level he represented his party from 1909 to 1917 and from 1919 to 1927 in the Vaudois Grand Council . He also sat on the National Council from 1935 to 1943 .

As the founder and president of the Fédération romande des vignerons , Albert Paschoud fought the wine tax introduced by a federal decree from 1918 to 1941.
