Richard Georg

Richard Georg (born October 16, 1862 in Glogau , † after 1923 ) was a German theater and film actor .

Life

Georg, son of a butcher, initially works as a merchant. He left this profession, however, and on May 20, 1885, entered the summer theater in Liegnitz for the first time under the direction of Oskar Will . Engagements in Görlitz and Putbus as well as Potsdam followed. Another station was Elberfeld before he played in Berlin at the Residenztheater, the Wallnertheater and the Centraltheater.

In 1892 he went on tour with Emil Thomas to the United States, which took him to New York City , Chicago , Milwaukee , Indianapolis and Cleveland . On his return he played at the Schillertheater, the New Theater and again at the Residenztheater, all of which were located in Berlin. His role subject was initially that of bon vivant and young comedian, then he switched to character comics. He then played this role in his films, for example Papa Schlaumeyer or Das Kriegssofa .
