Richard Gertenbach (born May 22, 1884 in Schwelm ; † August 8, 1945 in Wuppertal - Elberfeld ) was a German lawyer and politician . From 1919 to 1933 he was Lord Mayor of Iserlohn .

Live and act

Gertenbach was born as the son of the mayor of Schwelm and attended secondary school in Lennep and secondary school in Barmen . In 1904, while studying law and political science in Halle and Bonn , he became a member of the Alemannia fraternity on the plow in Halle . From 1904 until 1914 he was court trainee, then until 1916 court assessor and then until 1917 acting mayor of Lennep. Then he was alderman of the city of Remscheid until 1919 and was elected mayor of the city of Iserlohn on April 23, 1919, and since November 18, 1919, he has held the title of mayor. Re-elected for twelve years in 1931, he was removed from office by the National Socialists in 1933 and retired.

He was a year old volunteer with Telegraph Battalion No. 3 and became a reserve lieutenant in 1912 . In the First World War he took part in France , Flanders and Italy . In 1918 he was promoted to lieutenant in the reserve.
