Richard Greve (also: Richard Grewe and Richard Harry Oskar Greve and Richard Harri Oskar Greve ; * December 8, 1840 in Uslar , † March 13, 1913 in Hanover ) was a German clergyman and Evangelical Lutheran pastor .

Life

After studying theology, Greve attended the seminary in Hanover and in 1867 became a permanent collaborator at the Christ Church . When the parish collaboration was converted into a second parish office in 1872, he became the second pastor. After Pastor Hoyer's death, he became the first pastor at the presentation of the Duke of Cumberland . In the fall of 1906 he retired.

As early as 1873, at the Synod of the Hanover Inspection, he brought in the much-noticed motion to create posts for community and community helpers for social tasks and to support pastors in the communities. He promoted the construction of the Luther Church and the separation of the parish from the Christ Church, for which the foundation stone was laid in October 1895. The construction of the new parish hall in Taubenstrasse with a hall, nurses' station, youth rooms and parish apartments was largely carried out by him. As a long-time representative of the city of Hanover in the regional synod of the Hanover regional church, he was a representative of conservative positions. He campaigned for the unconditional recognition of the Lutheran confessions and opposed liberal tendencies in theology. He also belonged to the inner board of the Hanover Whitsun Conference .

Greve remained a supporter of the Welfenhaus , which was dethroned in 1866 and held the patronage of the Christ Church. He was on friendly terms with Queen Marie and baptized her five grandchildren in exile in Gmunden and Vienna, including the later head of the house Ernst August von Hanover .

Together with Gerhard Uhlhorn and the pastor Gustav Heinrich Karl Tovote wrote Greve into more than 400,000 copies by the publisher of Heinrich Feesche Lay- commemorative booklet for Konfirmierte Christians .
