Richard H. Ramsey

Richard H. Ramsey (* 1893 near Cleburne , Texas , † after June 1962) was an American bank clerk, civil servant and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Richard H. Ramsey was born in 1893 on a farm near the town of Cleburne, Johnson County . Nothing is known about his youth. Ramsey began working at Traders State Bank in Cleburne in 1914 . In 1915 he moved to Arizona , where he worked in the banking business for the next 10 years, interrupted in 1922 by his election for a two-year tenure as State Auditor and Controller of Arizona. After the end of his term he returned to his work in the banking business until 1927 when he moved to San Diego ( California moved). There he started to work for a company that traded in municipal bonds and other securities. Ramsey held a number of clerk positions in banks in Yuma County, Arizona and Imperial County, California before joining the California civil service. In 1936, he started in the authority of District III in Marysville ( Yuba County to work). In August 1938 he was transferred to Eureka ( Humboldt County ). There he was responsible for expanding his department from a department of two agents and a secretary to a staff of 50 employees. In April 1945 he became a District Right-of-Way Agent for District I in the Division of Highways. After more than 26 years in government service, he then retired. The occasion was celebrated on June 29, 1962 at a dinner in Eureka, where he was the guest of honor.

Ramsey was a member of the Ingomar Club in Eureka, the American Right of Way Association, and the Christ Episcopal Church of Eureka. He was also active in the California State Employees' Association for many years and was its regional director in 1944.
