Wayne Hubbs

Wayne Hubbs (born May 18, 1891 in Kingman , Arizona Territory , † October 17, 1965 in Phoenix , Arizona ) was an American politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Wayne Hubbs, son of Josephinea Jenna Joanna Wilkinson (1852-1924) and William Harvey Hubbs (1855-1931), was born in 1891 in Mohave County and grew up there. His father was the sheriff of Kingman and a treasurer of Mohave County. Wayne Hubbs had a brother who died in childbirth in 1888 and at least three other siblings: Alta Hazel (1889–1923), Vernon Sidney (1893–1963) and Nadine Reta (1895–1983).

On June 5, 1915 he married in Needles ( California ) Grace Lillian Hoose (1898-1982) and settled there with her. The couple had four sons and four daughters, including Donald Harvey (* 1918), James, Richard, Wayne and Joann.

Hubbs returned to Mohave County before 1918. He was a treasurer of Mohave County from 1918 to 1923. In 1923 he moved to Phoenix, Maricopa County . Hubbs was State Treasurer of Arizona from 1923 to 1925 and State Auditor of Arizona in 1925 . From 1933 to 1935 he held the post of Deputa State Treasurer. He then served as Assistant Collector for the Internal Revenue Service for Arizona from 1935 until his retirement in 1953 .

Hubbs died in St. Luke's Hospital in Phoenix in 1965. He was then buried in the Saint Francis Cemetery in Phoenix.
