Charles W. Fairfield

Charles Williams Fairfield (born February 9, 1882 in Colorado Springs , Colorado , † December 31, 1955 in Prescott , Arizona ) was an American politician ( Republican Party ).

Career

Charles Williams Fairfield, son of Jason Williams Fairfield Jr. and second wife Margaret Smith, was born in El Paso County in 1882 . The Fairfield family then moved to California in 1887 . There he attended the local community schools. He lived in San Diego at the age of 18 according to the 1900 census . He moved to the New Mexico Territory in 1903 . From 1903 to 1909 he was a commercial accountant. He then worked for three years as an auditor in the territorial auditor's office. He was living in Santa Fe at the 1910 census . He married Jean MacKenzie (1888–1953) there in 1910. The couple then lived for a short time in Los Angeles, California. Fairfield moved in 1913 with his family to Arizona and settled there in Winslow ( Navajo County ) down. There he started a job with the Babbitt Brothers Trading Company .

Fairfield also had a political career. He ran for the post of State Auditor of Arizona in 1918 , but lost to Democrat Jesse L. Boyce in the elections . He was elected State Auditor of Arizona in the 1920 elections. He held the post from 1921 to 1923.

According to the census in 1920, he lived in Phoenix ( Maricopa County ). The couple had two children, an eight-year-old daughter named Margaret and a five-year-old son named John. After the end of his tenure as a state auditor, he and his family moved to Clarkdale, Arizona. Fairfield was buried next to his wife in Valley View Cemetery .

He was a thirty-second degree Mason and a member of the Shriners and Sons of the American Revolution .
