Milton J. Husky

Milton J. Husky (born March 3, 1922 in Evansville , Indiana , † February 27, 1970 in Washington, DC ) was an American soldier and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Milton J. Husky, son of Marie S. (1900-1959) and George Husky († 1936), was born in 1922 in Vanderburgh County . The Husky family moved in 1927 to Arizona and settled in Phoenix ( Maricopa County down). He had a younger brother named George S. Husky (* 1924). Nothing is known about his youth. During the Second World War he served as a bombardier on board a maritime patrol in the Pacific with the Air Corps of the US Navy . Husky received multiple commendations for valor. He was also awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross and an Air Medal . After the war he returned to Arizona. He subsequently graduated from Phoenix College in 1947 and from Arizona State University in 1949 . In January 1947 he married Anne C. Evans, daughter of John Henry Evans. The couple had two children, a son named George and a daughter named Marsha. From 1957 to 1965 he served on the school board of the Creighton School in Phoenix.

Husky was elected Treasurer of State of Arizona in 1962. He held the post from 1963 to 1965.

He was then elected to the Arizona Corporation Commission for a six-year term in 1966 - a post he held until his death. During his tenure he presided over at least 1969. As a member of the commission he then traveled on February 25, 1970 to a meeting of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) in Washington, DC On the way from Washington Airport to the Watergate Hotel, he suffered a stroke . He died three days later at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC at the age of 48. At the time of his death, his two children were with him. After an autopsy, his body was transferred to Phoenix, Arizona.
