Yuba County is a county in the north of the US state California . The county seat is in Marysville .

history

The county was founded in 1850. Parts of the county were given in 1851 to Placer Counties and Nevada Counties and in 1852 to Sierra Counties . The county got its name from the Yuba River .

A total of 11 structures and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places .

According to the 2000 census , there were 60,219 people in Yuba County. There were 20,535 households and 14,805 families. The population density was 37 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 70.64% white, 3.16% African American, 2.61% Native American, 7.50% Asian, 0.20% residents from the Pacific island area and 9.95% from other races Groups; 5.94% were from two or more races. 17.35% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 20,535 households, 38.10% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 53.20% were married couples living together, 13.30% were single mothers. 27.90% were not families. 21.70% are single households and 8.20% have someone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.87 and the average family size was 3.34 people.

For the entire county, the population was 31.00% under 18 years of age, 10.70% between 18 and 24 years of age, 28.00% between 25 and 44 years of age, 19.60% between 45 and 64 years of age 10.60% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 101.60 males, for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 99.40 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $ 30,460 , and the median income for a family is $ 34,103. Males had a median income of $ 27,845 versus $ 21,301 for females. The per capita income was $ 14,124. 20.80% percent of the population and 16.30% of families are below the poverty line. 27.60% of them were under 18 years of age and 7.80% were 65 years of age or older.
