The Kings County is a county in the southern center of the US state of California . The county seat is Hanford .
history
Kings County was formed in 1893 from parts of Tulare County . The county got its name from the Kings River , discovered by Padre Munoz Expedition and called Rio de Los Santos Reyes (River of the Holy Kings).
4 of the county's structures are on the National Register of Historic Places .

Kings County had a population of 129,461 as of the 2000 census . There were 34,418 households and 26,983 families. The population density was 36 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 53.68% White, 8.30% African American, 1.68% Native American, 3.07% Asian, 0.19% Pacific Islander, and 28.28% other races Groups; 4.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 43.61% of the population.
Of the 34,418 households, 46.40% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 58.00% were married couples living together, 14.30% were single mothers. 21.60% were not families. 17.00% were single households and 6.80% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.18 and the average family size was 3.56.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 29.00% residents under 18 years of age, 11.80% between 18 and 24 years of age, 35.00% between 25 and 44 years of age, 16.80% between 45 and 64 years of age 7.40% were 65 years of age or over. The average age was 30 years. For every 100 females there were 134.80 males, for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 148.80 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 35,749 , and the median income for a family is $ 38,111. Males had a median income of $ 31,700 versus $ 24,772 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,848. 19.50% of the population and 15.80% of families are below the poverty line. 25.90% of these were under 18 years of age and 8.80% were 65 years or older.
